B. Committee Reports
1. Nominating Committee Report:
a) Dave Huebner reported that it is about time to solicit for spring
elections.
b) Rose Scruggs mentioned that notification should be completed by May; a
hard copy is to be sent to the Staff, followed by an email.
c) Dave asked for assistance if any one knows of someone that may be
interested in serving on Staff Council let him know.
2. Employee Relations Committee:
a) Lois Stevens said that Archibald’s food closet was given a $100.00
donation and it is stocked well as of now. If you have time, contact Linda in
Student Life to help keep it in order.
b) Lois reported that the next "Family Day with the Eagles" is going to be in
connection with USI Varsity Club, on March 30th and April 6th at 1:00 p.m. Door
prizes will be available for employees who register. Two or three volunteers
will be needed at each game to work at the door prize table.
c) Terry Martin said that notification can be sent to all departments by
flyers and email that Student Worker Week will be March 31st through April 4th.
Each department can pick a day to honor their student workers.
d) The USI Employee "Beach Party Picnic 2003" is set for Thursday, May 29th.
Door prizes are being donated and remember volunteers will be needed to help
with the festivities.
3. Economics Benefit Committee
a) Sandi Migonis reported that the committee has been meeting and busy
preparing a report for the budget committee on April 17th at 8:15 a.m. in Carter
Hall A. & B.
C. New Business
1. Reports of negative feedback from the staff came to our attention about
campus delays and closings concerning inclement weather. After much discussion,
Sandi will make a proposal to change the policy to read campus closed except for
essential personnel including staff and faculty.
2. Molly McConnell suggested that the policy change proposal be sent to HR
and they will forward it.
3. Molly McConnell announced that the PERF representative would be on campus
March 6th and would make two presentations.
