PRESENT: Karen Anderson Don Broshears, Becky Ball, Debbie
Clark, Mandi Fulton, Barbara Goodwin, Ginny Hall, Melissa Burch, Michelle
Hermann, Chris Jines, Kathy MacGregor, Phyllis Oeth, Jalane Weber, Darlene
Fisher. Also present were newly elected members Rose Scruggs, Dave Huebner,
Brandi Bauer, Jamie Heeke, Sandi Migonis, and Mary Alice Weigand
The meeting was called to order by Debbie Clark at 10:05
am. Debbie welcomed and introduced the newly elected members.
A motion was made to accept the April minutes with
changes.

Employee Relations: A new sign up sheet was
distributed to water Staff Council’s new location for Adopt a Spot on the
Northeast corner of the library during the summer. The new schedule will be
for Tuesday and Friday instead of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday as previously
scheduled.
There will be a representative in each building to
obtain a count for the Staff Council picnic on June 20. Those who register
will be eligible for the door prizes. Advertising for the picnic will be by
e-mail and the newsletter. The picnic plans are in the final stages with a
few more businesses being contacted for door prizes. Staff Council is
preparing for approximately 800 people for the lunch.

Economic Benefits: No meeting this month and no
feedback so far from HR about our recommendations for the coming year.

By-Laws: No meeting this month. A few changes
will be made next year.

Nominating Committee: Becky Ball gave
the results of the election and submitted and end of the year report for the
nominating committee.

Old Business: Marriott Food Service has agreed
to stay open until 1:30 during the summer hours as requested by Staff
Council. Because of construction in the building, the Eagles Nest is closed.

New Business/Discussion: Darlene Fisher asked
if anyone had ideas for the Fall Support Staff meeting. Plans are being made
for Tom Magan to give a short presentation on sexual harassment. It has been
suggested that a summary of the past legislative session and the projected
building projects for next year be included in the presentation.
New vendors are being contacted to take part in the
University Savings Incentive Program.
The employee ambassador program orientation was held
two weeks ago. Thirteen volunteers are presently in place to welcome new
staff employees. The first tour will be given by Debbie Clark.
Pictures will be taken of the new members of Staff
Council to be placed on our web site.
Darlene Fisher gave a report on the projected salary
increases. Letters will be sent from HR next week with details Sick leave
policy changes and vacation accrual schedule changes are still being
discussed. The potential cost of these changes is being evaluated.
Development and training sessions are being offered by
HR. The next session will be May 31 and is called “Who moved the barrels?”.
Anyone with ideas or who would like to present a session is asked to call HR.
Many groups will be using USI campus this summer for a
variety of meetings. We were reminded that many people we see this summer may
not have any idea where they are going and to use the opportunity to show true
USI hospitality. Two hundred and fifty temporary employees have been hired
for the summer by USI to fill positions for summer rehab, theatres, various
camps, etc.
Joyce Babillis coordinates the ushers at New Harmonie
Theatre for anyone who might be interested in volunteering for this position.
All committees were asked to submit and end of the year
report to Debbie Clark.
A motion was made by Ginny Hall and seconded by
Becky Ball to adjourn at 10:55 a.m.
