III. Committee Reports

  • Economic Benefits – The committee decided to pursue sending a letter to state universities to get their support on increasing PERF contributions. A suggestion was made that the local PERF representative be invited to meet with council members and non-exempt employees. It was determined that both Human Resources and Staff Council should pursue scheduling a meeting with the PERF representative. Recommendation was made for Staff Council members to check out ISU’s Web site regarding their Staff Council. The committee is also looking at what should be requested for the budget proposal in the spring. The committee will contact Food Services regarding possibilities of staff discounts on food to see if the Access Card can be used.
  •  Employee Relations – Staff Council has offered to assist with the Giving Tree event that is sponsored by Student Affairs.   Council has also decided to support the Archibald Eagle Food Closet.  The first drive was a success.
  •  Nominating – The committee met because Nancy Hall had to resign her position on the council. Lori Anderson from the Bursar’s office will finish out Nancy’s term.

IV. Old Business – Discussion was held again concerning having pictures of staff council members posted on the Web page.   It was determined that photos might be too expensive. Access to use of a digital camera is being checked into. Don Broshears is the representative from Staff Council for the Smoking Committee.

V. New Business - Nancy Byrd asked for volunteers to serve on an EEO Hearing Board. Three staff council members were needed.   The following members volunteered: Chris Jines, Becky Ball, Debbie Strueh, Ginny Hall, and Marsha Salee.

VI. Discussion – The next staff council meeting is scheduled for December 1 in UC 205.

VII. Adjournment Motion was made to adjourn meeting by Debbie Strueh and seconded by Margaret Ochsner.
