success and thanks was forwarded to Staff Council for staffing the table and
distributing refreshments during the fair. Several vendors left the fair before
employees were able to participate. A note was made to ask them to stay until
the end of the fair next year. There are only 7 or 8
departments with outstanding employee evaluations at this time. These
departments will be reminded again to please turn in the evaluations. There are 3 red
binders for new staff council members or others who may need them in the Human
Resources Department. New certificates for those who will be completing their
term on Staff Council in 2001 have been ordered and received. Kimberly Greenlee, the new HR
Coordinator is working on the United Way Fund Drive at the present time but will
begin attending the Staff Council meeting next month. Kim will begin to work
with Staff Council on implementing the employee ambassador program that has been
discussed at previous meetings. It appears that Anthem/Blue Cross
Blue Traditional Plan will increase approximately 2.5% and the Anthem/Blue Cross
Blue Shield Blue Access (PPN) will be increasing approximately 2.0% . The
Welborn HMO will increase approximately 23%. HRI Dental Insurance will increase
approximately 6% Open enrollment period will be from Nov 3 – Nov 15. ECONOMIC BENEFITS: No meeting was held in October. EMPLOYEE RELATIONS: The food drive held in October was very successful. Approximately $1,000 worth of food was added to the food pantry. The survey concerning employee interest was distributed to approximately 190 employees. Only 32 were returned and of those “eating out” at various restaurants once each month was the #1 request. An exercise group and Bible study tied for second place. Information concerning these activities will be put in the Staff Council Newsletter to attract those who may have an interest. December 16 will be the first Staff Council sponsored Family Outing. This event will be hosted by the Varsity Club. Free tickets to the ladies and men’s basketball games will be available and other incentives for attendance are being organized. The games will be at 1:00 and 3:00. OLD BUSINESS: Smoking around the Orr Center and several other buildings is a continuing problem. A committee to review this issue may be reconvened. The parking issues on campus are being addressed. Cindy Brinker reports that there are no immediate resolutions to this problem but long term goals are being set. At the present time students are not allowed to drive from housing before 3 pm. Staff has noticed that handicapped parking places are also being taken by those without proper authorization. If anyone sees someone without an appropriate plate or sticker parked in the wrong place please contact security. NEW BUSINESS: The Support Staff Spring Meeting date has been rescheduled to Jan 3, 2001 due to registration conflicts. Don Broshears will complete the term left vacant by Lori Anderson. A committee has been formed by HR to review the possibility of automated time sheets. A motion was made to adjourn the
meeting at ll:35 by Debbie Strueh and seconded by Becky Ball.
