Approved minutes

Present: Denise Bulger, Debbie Clark, Donna Hopf, Linda Harmon, Margaret Flewallen, Terry Martin, Molly McConnell, Melody Sponn, Sara Siminski, Terri Schaefer, Darren Shelton, Yvonne Floyd

Debbie Clark called the meeting to order at 2:01 pm

A motion to approve the minutes from the Staff Council Retreat (August 20, 2003) was made by Melody Sponn and 2nd by Terri Schaefer.

Cynthia Brinker made a presentation on the Code of Ethics for the University of Southern Indiana. The Ethics committee wanted to have input from all areas of the University on the draft that they have created, before they finalized it.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Nominating Committee
Becky Warford has opted out of Staff Council for medical reasons. The Nominating Committee along with the Executive Committee will need to poll staff to locate individuals who are interested on being in the Staff Council since there are no names in the nominating pool.
Employee Relations Committee
Letters were created and sent to the 36 students who are overseas serving our country.
Adopt a spot is done for the season and the committee wants to thanked everyone who participated in this activity.
The food drive is being coordinated by Student Affairs this year.
The giving tree was discussed with the possibility of replacing the name ornaments with other decorative ornaments as they are removed.
Family Time with the Eagles was discussed and Karen Anderson will chair the event that will be held on December 20
A comment was brought up about the social events becoming too much for the committee. The question also came up; could we look at some of the organizations on campus helping with the events or taking over the events, especially the giving tree? It was also suggested that we could combine monthly meetings and committee meetings.

  • Snow days and how they can effect Staff Personnel

  • Vacation days after 11 years

  • Perfect attendance recognition

  • Budget agenda

NEW BUSINESS:

Memoriam for Roberta “Bobbie” Reich Gardner
Wellness Fair is October 28, a reminder not to forget to sign up to work.

OLD BUSINESS
Snow day policy
DISCUSSION AND ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Campus Blood Drive will be held October 1 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm Next meeting is 29th of October (Wednesday) at 2:00 pm

Motion for the meeting to be adjourned by Terri Schaefer was and 2nd motion was by Melody Sponn.
