at Roberts Stadium. Terry Martin will try to have drinks donated.
Schnucks is donating 1500 hot dogs with condiments, and Lewis Bakery
is donating 1500 buns. USI Alumni Association and USI Varsity Club
are also sponsoring the party and will be assisting with food, lights
and the sound system. Advertising is by Katie Baumgart with the Student
Ambassadors. A suggestion on how to give USI participants prizes
is to choose from ticket stubs gathered while entering the stadium.

Family names and gift items will be printed on ornaments. Darlene Fisher will
ask for keys to the old Human Resources area and have the space cleaned to
store gifts from 12/9 to 12/14/04. HR will be working during the winter recess,
and offered international students who are on campus during the break to visit
HR since they will have comfort snacks. Jalane Weber has received offers from
USI members, who will open their homes during the break to international students
who have no where to go. Since the shuttle will not be running and food services
closed, a few international students have spent time alone with poor food choices
during the holiday time. Julie Bordelon will make a list of such students so
this year there can be options available to them.
Economic Benefits: Nothing
to report.
Nominating Committee: Nothing
to report.
NEW BUSINESS: Debbie Clark asked for input for the
Search Committee for Vice President of Business Affairs. Suggestions
were made about looking for someone with a background in engineering/facilities,
physical building experience and common sense in landscaping with an
aesthetic appearance. The Master Plan for the campus is to spot improvements
that can be made to buildings, parking lots and landscaping areas.
One suggestion was to place the names on the buildings in an aesthetically
pleasing way.
Pam Van Vorst asked for volunteers for the Student Wellness Fair Wednesday
10/13/04. A sign up form is located on the “O” drive.
It was recommended to contact Dave Goldenberg, director of Procurement and
Distribution Services, to inquire about why vending machine prices increased.
Dan Rodgers reported a student was stung by a bee Sunday 9/25/04 and had an
allergic reaction. Security was called and they stated they could not help
the student. In result, a custodian drove the student to MEC. Debbie Clark
will contact Barry Hart and report back. Donna Hopf asked if a vision
plan will be added to USI’s medical plan. Darlene Fisher explained HR
examines vision options each year to look for a best way to spend premiums
for the maximum benefit for employees. A desired vision coverage to supplement
hardware would be to include checkups, etc. Currently HR is looking at quotes
from vendors for such a benefit at a cost employees can cover. Another option
desired for employees is to use a laminated card (like a debit card) that will
carry funds from their Flexible Benefit Plan to pay certain medical expenses.
Health insurance recommendations will be presented at the Board of Trustees
meeting on 11/4/2004. Prescriptions for all Indiana Higher Education Institutions
will be able to have an Anthem plan of receiving 3 months of certain medications
available in bulk for a price of 2 months. Renewal rates for open enrollment
will be available online after the meeting.
OLD BUSINESS: Debbie Clark reported the focus group
results are similar from staff, administration and the community, and
once the students complete and add their input, a final report will
be available.
