Paul Hedrick has accepted a position as HVAC operator in the Physical Plant.
Pamela Shaw has accepted a position as administrative assistant in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
Johna Vaughan has accepted a position as administrative assistant in the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
Passings
J.C. “Skip” Henderson, father of Bill Henderson, assistant professor of computer information services, died May 8. Services were held May 12 at Johnson-Vaughn-Phelps Funeral Home in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Virginia Lee Hunt, mother of John Hunt, associate director of risk management and safety, died May 7. Services were held May 12 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, Indiana.
Accomplishments
Virginia L. Bryant, assistant director of Development and foundation scholarships, has been awarded the Certificate in Fund Raising Management by The Fund Raising school in Indianapolis. Founded in 1974, The Fund Raising School is the only international fundraising education program housed within a university. As part of the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, the School stands for the highest standards in professional fundraising. Bryant successfully completed the four core courses offered by the school. She will celebrate her 15-year anniversary in the University’s Development officeon June 28, 2008.
Retirements
The USI Board of Trustees has approved retirement for Dr. Douglas K. Hubbell, associate professor of theatre, and for Dr. Marlene V. Shaw, professor of biology, both effective June 30, 2009. Hubbell has 29 years of service to USI, and Shaw has 36 years of service. Both will be given emeritus status. The Board of Trustees also approved delaying the retirement of Ruth H. Miller, director of Library Services and senior librarian, until January 29, 2010 at her request.
