New Harmony Theatre holds local auditions for 2008

Evansville, Ind. (January 9, 2008) - The New Harmony Theatre will hold local auditions January 26 and 27 at the Mallette Studio Theatre on the University of Southern Indiana campus. Under the artistic direction of Lenny Leibowitz, the 2008 season will include Othello, Crimes of the Heart, and My Fair Lady.
Auditions are open to experienced adult actors, who are asked to prepare one classical and one contemporary monologue. To be considered for My Fair Lady, auditioners should prepare one monologue (either classical or contemporary) and 32 bars from the standard musical theatre repertoire. Singers must bring sheet music written in their key. Audition pieces may be selected from the season's productions.
According to Leibowitz, all roles for the 2008 season are available. "No roles have been pre-cast," he said. Rehearsals for Othello will begin May 27; the production will run June 13 - 29. Rehearsals for Crimes of the Heart will begin June 24; it will run July 11 - 27. Rehearsals for My Fair Lady will begin July 15; it will run August 1 - 17. The New Harmony Theatre rehearses full-time Tuesday through Sunday. Understudies may be assigned to some roles.
The New Harmony Theatre operates on a contract with Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States. Members of Actors' Equity Association as well as non-members are eligible to audition.
