Workshops, Lectures, and Readings
Workshops are held at various facilities, including the New Harmony Inn and the Scholars Retreat House, which also serves as conference headquarters. Craft lectures are held at the Barn Abbey. Except for opening night, readings are held in the Atheneum (pictured above). However, nothing in New Harmony is more than a few blocks apart and each site is easily within walking distance of another.
A block of rooms has been reserved at the New Harmony Inn and Conference Center for attendees. If you are interested in sharing a room at the Inn, please complete the proper portion of the registration form.
The Barn Abbey, a rustic retreat center, offers housing in bunk-bedded double rooms. Restroom/shower facilities are shared and rooms are located on first or second floor with no elevator transportation between the floors. Single rooms are available only as long as space permits. Lodging will be available the nights of June 8-13 (Sunday-Friday).
Other lodging possibilities include cabins or camping at nearby Harmonie State Park, staying at a New Harmony bed-and-breakfast, or motels in Mount Vernon, Indiana, or Mount Carmel, Illinois. A housing list is available on request, or click here for additional information.
The following meals are included with your registration: breakfast Monday-Saturday; lunch Monday-Friday; Sunday dinner; Friday closing dinner. Breakfasts and lunches are served at the Abbey; the location of other meals will be announced. Those staying at the Barn Abbey have access to refrigeration, but not to cooking facilities.
New Harmony restaurants vary widely in menu and price. They include the Red Geranium (fine dining); Sara's Harmonie Way (coffee drinks, soups, and sandwiches); Woody's Pizzeria (pizza, strombolis, paninis and more); deli-style sandwiches at convenience stores; and the ever-popular Yellow Tavern (pizza, burgers, no family room, does not accept credit cards, ATM available).
