The 2012-2015 Strategic Plan started being developed at a retreat during Summer 2012 and officially launched Fall 2012. The retreat consisted of a faculty member invited from each college, the distance learning librarian Philip Orr, all the staff of the Online Learning office (formerly known as Distance Learning) and some student workers. The team of Online Learning consisting of Megan Linos, Vicki Bierley, Julie Bordelon, and Laura Cole.
At the start of the Strategic Plan, during Summer 2012, the office focused on identifying the needs of the University of Southern Indiana and working on design initiatives. Within the first year, about 116 faculty members were teaching an online course, which was a 30% increase from the previous year. In addition, enrollment increased as 186 new online courses were created, which resulted in an increase in tuition revenue of $1,230,253.65. The year 2013 saw the implementation of Initiative pilots, and 2014 saw the collection of metrics and data.
