New Student Orientation is designed for students entering the University for the first time or for transferring students who have earned less than 19 credits at another institution. This is a one-day, on-campus program.
Transfer and Adult Student Orientation is designed for students who are transferring 19 or more credit hours from another college or university or adult students (25 years of age or older). This program is a half-day, on-campus program.
Online Orientation is designed for students meeting one of the following criteria:

Do parents attend orientation?
Yes, many parents do attend orientation with their students. Parents are encouraged to attend orientation so they also learn about the resources offered on campus. There is a specific program for parents and families at all Screaming Eagles Orientation. If you would like to attend your student can register you when they register for orientation.
Is there a cost to attend orientation?
All new students to the University are charged a matriculation fee on their first semester bill. This non-refundable fee covers the orientation program. There is no fee for two guests to attend Screaming Eagles Orientation. Additional guests will need to purchase a lunch ticket. We do ask that you only register those whom you know will be attending.
If you are attending Welcome Week, you will move into University Housing on Thursday, August 17, 2017. If you are scheduled to attend the orientation session on Wednesday, August 16, you will be able to move into your fall housing assignment on Tuesday, August 15 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
If you are attending the orientation session on Thursday, January 5, 2017, you will be able to move into your spring housing assignment on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. You may also move in on Thursday, January 5, 2017 or Saturday, January 7, 2017.

No, you do not need to have your placement testing done prior to registering for orientation. We do ask that you complete your placement testing one week prior to attending your orientation session.
You will receive a confirmation within 10 days of submitting your orientation reservation. Confirmations are emailed to your myUSI email account. If you do not receive it, contact Student Development Programs at email@example.com, 812-465-7167 or 800-350-7830.
If you are attending New Student Orientation or Transfer/Adult Student Orientation, Student Development Programs will schedule your advising appointment for you. All you need to do is register to attend an orientation session. You will receive your advising appointment when you check-in for orientation.
If you completed orientation online, you need to contact the department or college of your major. Refer to this list of contacts.

The University Campus Store will be open during orientation. You will be able to buy textbooks if they are available. Fall textbooks are available for purchase online or in the store on August 1. Spring textbooks are available for purchase online or in the store on December 1.
