Bachelor of Professional Studies

The USI Bachelor of General Studies program (BGS) is designed for the working adult with prior college, technical and/or military experience, significant career experience, and a strong desire to complete college course work that will be meaningful and personally enriching.  Choose from the Applied Studies Options in Enterprising Leadership or Public Service, or choose the Individual Studies Option to create a program that meets your unique career and educational goals.

Do you have . . . ?

Some college but no degree?

Military experience, past or present?

Employment in business or manufacturing?

Nearly one million Hoosiers have attended college without completing a degree. The BGS offers an affordable, accessible and relevant course of study that will likely be more streamlined than a traditional major.  We will begin by analyzing your previous college work and educational goals and help you devise a plan that makes the most sense for you.  The length of your program will depend upon your prior college and work experience, professional or technical training, and whether you want to enroll full- or part-time.  BGS graduates will complete a degree from an accredited university with refreshed communication and research skills, and ready to pursue a meaningful and rewarding career.  See Getting Started for information on applying to USI.

USI is military friendly. The BGS applies military training and service to a degree completion plan, and offers active-duty personnel and veterans an accessible and affordable way to complete a bachelor's degree. Military service and training is assessed and applied to the BGS through the Joint Services Transcript or the Community College of the Air Force, along with any previous college credits. For information on USI application fee waivers, military credit and using Veterans' benefits, contact USI Veteran Support Services.

The BGS offers affordable and accessible degree completion options for adults with prior college work and/or technical training. Visit Majors and Concentrations for details.
