Applied Studies - Two New Concentrations in 2014

Enterprising Leadership
(60 hours, including 39 hours of 300-400 level and Core 39 embedded experiences)

Enterprising Leadership combines studies in communications, innovation, career-related research and problem-solving and a strong emphasis on personal and professional development. Required courses originate from several University departments and are offered in an adult-focused format.

Public Service
(60 hours, including 39 hours of 300-400 level and Core 39 embedded experiences)

Public Service is a brand new approach to building capacity for leadership in public service agencies, including charitable organizations, law enforcement, and government entities. Required courses build communication skills, develop an understanding of political and social processes at work in the public sector, and increase leadership and advocacy skills.

Individual Studies
(36 hour minimum based on individual proposal for degree-completion)

The Individual Studies major allows BGS students to develop a course of studies that meets unique educational and career goals. Students who choose this major will create and submit a list of USI courses that fulfills these goals and meets all remaining graduation requirements. This proposed plan of study is reviewed by a faculty committee for approval.
