Never before in U.S. history has there been four distinct generations working together. These generations - the Matures, Baby Boomers, Generation Xers, and Millennials, have distinctly different sets of values, motivations, and perspectives about work, life, and relationships. Each group expresses similarities in what they value, how they work, and what they want from their employers. Employers need to have an understanding of the generations in order to shape programs and policies to meet the needs of all of the generations who are working together.
