Office of the President President's Task Force 2007 Annual Report (pdf)

The University of Southern Indiana invites nominations and applications for its third president. The trustees, faculty, staff, students, alumni, and friends are united in their desire to recruit a person of vision who will embrace the institutional values – focused on students, committed to excellence in teaching, concerned for cost containment, and responsive to regional needs -- and who can clearly and passionately articulate the values and the needs of the institution.

The previous two presidents have created many opportunities for this third president – a broad array of undergraduate and graduate programs, including one clinical doctorate; state-of-the art instructional facilities with no deferred maintenance; innovative student residential opportunities; and substantial donor support. Both presidents have been careful stewards of institutional resources and earned the respect of community and state leaders for their creative management.  Both leaders also forged strong relationships in the state, region, and community, resulting in partnerships which mutually benefit the institution and those entities. The climate exists for future progress that could surpass that of the recent past.

The University community will expect the new president to build on the success of predecessors, undertaking planning processes that will give a fresh and focused view of the institution’s future. The University also will look to the new president to enhance and promote excellence and take the institution to a new level of academic distinction.  Advocacy and superior communication and motivation skills will be expected of this collaborative and creative leader.

A broad-based Search and Screen Committee representing University constituencies has been appointed by the Board of Trustees and charged with soliciting nominations and applications, screening applications, selecting and interviewing semifinalist candidates, and recommending finalists to the Board of Trustees.  All aspects of the search process are confidential until the finalists are invited to campus in January 2009.

Applications should include a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and the names, addresses, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses of five references (who will not be contacted without permission).

Applications and nominations should be sent to my attention or to our search coordinator, Sherrianne Standley, at smstandl@usi.edu.
