Your Creative and Print Services department is your resource for having things designed and printed. Turnaround time is one of the most important things to consider when you start your planning.
In general, four to eight weeks will cover most printing projects; however, each project is unique. We will make every effort to accommodate emergency situations if needed.
Here are some guidelines to help you plan:
Our work begins with the design phase, so copy writing, editing, and photo selection should be done prior to submitting the Outlook form: Publishing Services Requisition*. Since every job is different, a phone call will help get you off on the right foot!
*We must have a requisition before we can begin work on your project.
ALL JOB ORDERS WILL FALL INTO ONE OF THE FOLLOWING FOUR CATEGORIES:
Stock - Allow 1 to 3 weeks to fill your order
Stock letterhead and envelopes are available in Creative and Print Services. Although some stock orders may be filled on the spot, generally allow one week to fill your order.
Larger orders are not considered stock and may require a separate print run, which would extend the turnaround to at least three weeks. If your request is for department-specific letterhead or envelopes, it would be considered a “rerun” or “rerun with changes” (noted below). For these items, allow a minimum of three weeks.
Rerun (with no changes) - Allow a minimum of 3 weeks to fill your order.
This is considered a straight rerun of a previously printed job.
Rerun with changes - Allow 4 to 6 weeks to fill your order.
Depending on the number of changes, a rerun of a job with alterations could take three to six weeks. Always make changes in RED ink to a hard copy of the most recently printed version. Only retype large blocks of text when needed, and send us the digital file.
New job - Allow a minimum of 6 weeks to fill your order. Please call in advance.
New jobs are jobs that have never been printed before, and take longer to produce than either reruns noted above. Please call for a planning meeting so we are prepared and can assist you in the best way.More intricate print pieces obviously require a longer turnaround time. Planning projects early will ensure that your piece is produced on time. Allow a minimum of six weeks for design, proofing, and printing. Excessive and late changes and proofing may extend the delivery date.
Text files should be submitted in Microsoft Word only. Our designers will format the text to meet your needs. Proofs will be provided to you before final printing.
