Those eligible for Priority Registration
(initially creating your schedule)
The purpose of the priority registration period is to let students select courses prior to the beginning of the term. Once you complete priority registration, you will have reserved space in the classes for which you have registered.
Priority Registration for Fall 2008 was April 7-18.
Undergraduate
students All continuing and readmitting undergraduate students are eligible for
priority registration.
If you are/were not
enrolled in the 2008 spring semester, but have been enrolled previously,
you must first complete an Undergraduate Readmission
through the Office of the
Registrar (812/465-1157 or 800/467-1965).
Degree-seeking undergraduates
with less than 32 earned hours (freshmen)
will have a registration hold placed on their record, and will be
eligible for Web registration only after meeting with their
academic
advisor to review their course selection and remove the registration
hold.
New (incoming) undergraduate students are not eligible for priority registration. As a new freshman or transfer student, you will be required to attend an Orientation program to introduce you to life at USI. At Orientation, you will become acquainted with the educational opportunities, facilities, and procedures at USI and will receive a USI Bulletin (USI's academic catalog). During Orientation, you will work with an academic advisor who will assist you with course selection and registration for classes. Click here to learn more about Orientation; email connect@usi.edu; phone 812/465-7167 or 800/350-7830.
Academic Progress Prior to the priority registration period, any undergraduate degree-seeking student with a cumulative USI grade point average less than 2.00 will have a registration hold placed on their record. A student receiving this registration hold must consult with an academic advisor to formulate a plan for improving academic performance prior to registration for the following semester.
Graduate students Continuing and non degree-seeking or guest graduate students are scheduled for priority registration by their graduate program. If you are/were not enrolled in the 2008 spring semester, but have been enrolled previously, complete the online Readmission form (degree-seeking graduates only) or visit the Office of Graduate Studies (non degree-seeking or guest graduates) to begin the priority registration process. New graduate students are eligible for priority registration beginning the second week only (on/after November 12). If you have not initiated application procedures for the 2008 fall semester, you must first contact the Office of Graduate Studies; Rm. 104M of the Wright Administration building; phone 812/465-7015.
Distance Education Course Registration USI students follow the appropriate registration schedule to enroll in USI Distance Education courses (found on page 25 of the class schedule). Because Indiana College Network distance education courses require coordination between campuses, students are encouraged to initiate the registration process during priority registration in November. The ICN registration process for Fall 2008 must be completed by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20. Click HERE for more information on ICN registration.
Priority Registration for
Fall 2008 was April 7-18.
Additional periods of registration will also be available to all eligible
continuing and readmitting students; CLICK HERE for full details.
Any student who is registered for a semester/term is eligible for schedule revisions and withdrawals for that semester/term, either via the Web or in person.
A schedule revision is a drop and/or add that leaves you still enrolled in coursework for the term. A withdrawal is when you drop all courses for the semester/term. If you wish to alter your original schedule, whether by personal incentive or by school directive, you must do so officially (according to the procedures outlined in the class schedule or by following the links on the left-hand side of this page). If you do not assume this responsibility, you may jeopardize your record with the possibility of incurring an ‘F’ in a course not properly dropped and/or not receiving credit in a course improperly added. Merely not attending a course does not automatically remove the course from your record.
NOTE: You may be administratively withdrawn from course(s) by the University for reasons including but not limited to the following: 1) lack of prerequisite, 2) excessive absences, 3) cancelled class, 4) disciplinary action.
