Office of Student Conduct and Resolution Services (OSCARS)

Mission
The USI Office of Student Conduct and Resolution Services (OSCARS) will administer the Housing & Residence Life conduct system in a just and educational way, while recognizing the balance that exists between individual behavior and community standards.  OSCARS will serve these functions:

Location
OSCARS is located in the O'Daniel South laundry building on the East end of the building.   The office door is next to the blue, US mailbox on the Southeast end of the building.  The office hours are Monday through Friday, 8am-12pm and 1pm-4:30pm.

Services
All residential conduct records are processed through OSCARS.  Administrative hearings often occur in the respective offices of the Area Coordinators, at the Housing & Residence Life Center, or at OSCARS.  All appeals for housing-based cases are processed through OSCARS before being forwarded to an appellate officer for review.

**New for 2008** - OSCARS will be offering multiple party dispute resolution for campus residents.

Staff
The Assistant Director for the Office of Student Conduct and Resolution Services is responsible for the overall conduct system including web page development, database and record maintenance, meeting protocol, policy development, administration for the OSCARS mediation program, and assisting students in understanding their rights and responsibilities.  He/she is the chief conduct officer for Housing & Residence Life.

OSCARS is staffed by a full-time Administrative Assistant for Student Conduct.  The Administrative Assistant has received training in the adjudication process and in confidentiality.

Additionally, student Conduct Assistants (CA's) staff the front desk of OSCARS as well as provide assistance to Area Coordinators in their respective office areas.  CA's are student workers who are responsible for the maintenance of the judicial files, conduct follow-up on outstanding sanctions/stipulations, staff the front desk, and may respond to questions submitted to the conduct email account, usi1cja@usi.edu  CA's are also there to answer any basic questions you may have about the student conduct system.
