Frequently Asked Questions about:

Phone Service

Q: Can I bring my own phone/answering machine?
If you are living in the residence halls or in the on-campus apartments, you may not bring your own phone or answering machine.  These units utilized digital phone lines and the whole campus is on one telephone network.  Phones are provided for you as part of your housing charges.  Phone mail is available through telephone services for $20 per apartment per semester.

Q: How do I get long distance telephone service or phone mail?
USI Telecommunication Services - (812) 465-1080 - should be contacted to purchase a long distance plan. This department can also provide a plan for phone mail. USI has a telephone system that does not permit the use of standard telephone answering machines.
