Housing and Residence Life Department Overview
Mission
The Department of Housing and Residence Life supports and enhances the
educational mission of the University of Southern Indiana by providing
programs, services, staffing, and facilities, which support academic
success and personal development.
With our four governing values vision, integrity, competence, and
inspiration, we will make USI Residence Life “The Best of its Size and
Type in the Nation.”
Core Functions
Housing and Residence Life is an organization that:
creates an environment whereby students are active participants in the academic enterprise,
embraces certain truths including respect for ideas, the value of diversity, and the vitality associated with positive change, all essential to the holistic development of the students we serve,
places a premium on both the quality of service and the quality of life we provide to our students,
prioritizes staff development and recognizes that people are the most important assets of the department and must be the key source of innovation and leadership,
pursues an aggressive plan to ensure that retention rates of residents exceed national trends,
maintains financial integrity/solvency,
purposefully pursues competence in the understanding and application of technology, achieves state, regional and national recognition for its success in meeting the needs of our constituents,
continually assesses our services, facilities, staff and student
satisfaction.
