How Do I Apply for Housing?

We are thrilled that you have chosen to live on the University of Southern Indiana campus. Here are some basics as you get ready to move into your space this fall. If you have questions, you can call us at 812/468-2000 or email us at living@usi.edu.

First, make sure you are using Internet Explorer.

Housing Application

There is a three step application process for housing. First, a prospective resident must put in the initial application. This lets Housing and Residence Life know that he/she wants to live on campus. Click on the images below to view them larger.
You should get this window after following the link:

Click on the "USI Resident Log In"


On the Residence Life system, you will use your nine-digit student identification number, starting with 000, as both your user name AND password. After entering your ID number, you should come to this page:


Click on "Application" then click "Start Here." You'll get this page:


Confirm the information then click "Next." Here you'll get a chance to declare room type preferences. If you have no preference, then just click "Next."


This brings you to the survey and roommate preferences. You will be able to state who you want as a roommate, though it matters most during room selection in part 3. If you do not have a roommate preference, then leave it blank. You do need to complete the survey, however, to help guide you and us in selecting the right roommate.  When you're done, click "Continue."





The last page is the Application Summary. Check to make sure everything is accurate. If you need to change anything, then click "Redo" to go to the earlier steps in the process. To submit your required $50 non-refundable application fee, you will need to hold down shift,ctrl, and alt while clicking "Make Payment." DO NOT let go of shift,ctrl, and alt until the payment window completely loads. After you submit your payment using a debit or credit card, click "Continue" to complete your application.


Housing Contract

In one to two weeks, you will receive a contract offer email through your myUSI email address. Housing and Residence Life will always use your myUSI email address to communicate.

A $200 prepayment is REQUIRED at the time your contract is electronically signed.

HOUSING CONTRACT INFORMATION
This contract is an academic year contract (Fall 2011 AND Spring 2012) and is binding from receipt of your contract through May 11, 2012.

HOUSING CONTRACT CANCELLATION FEES
A student who voluntarily, or for any of the reasons listed under “Contract Cancellation,” “Contract Termination by University,” or “Contract Release Process,” officially cancels their housing will be assessed cancellation fees based on the following schedule.

Self-Assigning Your Room

Incoming freshmen will select their rooms in mid-June. We will be sending emails out to students who have completed the rest of the process to let them know when they can go back onto the site to select their spaces. The sooner the deposit was paid, the sooner a student can select their room.

If you are in one of the Living Learning Communities or a freshman member of some of the sports teams, you won't be selecting your own room. Those students will be assigned separately by Housing and Residence Life staff using lists given to them by LLC staff and coaches.
