Living-Learning Communities

Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education

The Elementary, Early Childhood, and Special Education-Learning Community was created to allow freshmen interested in teaching the opportunity to make an easier transition into college life and to learn more about what is involved in teaching early in their program. This fall we will be partnering with the Global Learning Community to teach a workshop in a local elementary school.

The fall term will offer a one hour class which will provide information about success strategies for college, the Teacher Education program here at USI, and will also include guest speakers from the area who will provide information about today's schools and opportunities for involvement. Your schedule will include two other classes that all members of the community will be enrolled in, although you may not be in the same sections. This will allow for support while studying for these classes.

By being involved with this community you will have the opportunity to build lasting friendships with others who have the same interests and who will support you throughout your program here at USI.
