Climbing Center - General Climbing Policies

Following these policies does not ensure safe climbing.

CLIMBING IS DANGEROUS!

Follow all instructions given by Climbing Center staff.

Participants must check in each time they visit the Climbing Center and agree to the liability waiver. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or
guardian sign their waiver.

All climbers and belayers are required to take the RFWC Safety Course every 6 months. Anyone who has not climbed in the past two months may be asked to take a refresher course.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age to be in the Climbing Center. However, during special events participants under the age of 18 may be allowed to use the facility as long as their parents have signed the liability waiver.

Only 20 participants are allowed in the Climbing Center at any one time.

Remove all jewelry, empty pockets, tie back long hair and use safety straps for glasses.

No food, drink or gum is allowed in the Climbing Center.

No electronic equipment allowed in the Climbing Center i.e. cell phones, iPods, mp3 players.

Foul language, swinging on ropes, horseplay, bare feet, and
unruly conduct is strictly prohibited.

RFWC staff has the right to suspend or terminate any participant’s access to the Climbing Center for violation of any facility rule or any conduct deemed inappropriate, disruptive, or unsafe.

Report all problems such as injuries, loose holds, and equipment damage to Climbing Center staff.

Climbing Center staff is available for assistance, but the safety of climbers and equipment is ultimately the responsibility of the participants.

Guests are allowed to use the Climbing Center once a semester with a valid USI Eagles Access card-holder.
