The University of Southern Indiana prohibits sexual assault and presents the following policy.
University of Southern Indiana’s Policies Concerning Stalking,
Sexual Harassment, and Sexual Assault
2.8 Stalking
Willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly following or harassing another
person in a manner that would cause a reasonable person to feel frightened,
intimidated, threatened, harassed, or molested is prohibited.
2.9 Sexual Harassment
As part of its commitment to equal opportunity, the University of Southern Indiana prohibits sexual harassment among members of he educational community among members which include employees and students, including student-to-student and other peer sexual harassment.
Sexual harassment is defined as: “Unwelcome or unwanted advances, requests for sexual favors, or other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature on or off campus when:
2.10 Sexual Imposition
Sexual imposition is much broader than the traditional concept of rape: Sexual imposition involves sexual acts or sexual contacts with others that can involve compelling a victim to submit to sexual acts or contacts by force or threat of force, use of intoxicants to impair substantially the victim's power to give consent, engaging in such acts when there is reasonable cause to believe the other person suffers from a mental state which renders him or her incapable of understanding the nature of the contact, or when the victim is a minor.
The abuse of alcohol or other substances does not relieve individuals of their responsibilities to themselves or others.
* This policy is in compliance with federal regulations implementing Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972.
