Environmental wellness is the process of recognizing your responsibility for your environment, which ranges from your immediate surroundings to the world around you. Actions to improve your environment can include being aware of and doing what you can to reduce violence in society, as well as daily actions such as recycling, installing smoke detectors in your home, and wearing a seatbelt.
Environmental Wellness Resources at USI include:
- The Recreation, Fitness, and Wellness Center offers self-defense for women (RAD) classes to help women learn to stay safe and defend themselves if necessary.
- Housing and Residence Life works with campus and local law enforcement to present “Ask An Officer” events to educate students on safety on campus, sexual assault, and alcohol and other drugs. Also, don't forget to recycle! Recycling is available throughout Housing and Residence Life areas.
- Public Safety provides 24/7 security coverage for USI. You can contact them if there is a safety concern, a medical emergency, if you need an security escort, or for help if you have a flat tire, a dead car battery, or lock your keys in the car.
