Occupational wellness is the ability to get personal fulfillment from our jobs while maintaining balance in our lives. It is the ability to integrate your skills, interests, and values in order to heighten job satisfaction. A well work environment is one that is safe, supportive, and encourages personal growth.
Occupational Wellness Resources at USI include:
- The Counseling Center provides students with emotional assistance during times of occupational uncertainty and to students struggling with pressures related to one’s occupational goals. Career Counseling is provided through the Career Counseling office.
- The Kinesiology and Sport department offers experiential learning opportunities through Road Races, Boy/Girl Scout Basic Aid training, Running/Walking club, On the Court mentoring, Golf Scramble, SMART program, and programming at Solarbron Retirement Community. Also, internships and practicums are available through the department.
- The Office of Career Services offers assistance that builds confidence through advising students and alumni in transitioning from the academic environment to the professional world. Effectively exploring internships, employment, and post-graduate study opportunities results in decreased anxiety during the years of academic study. Career Services provides instruction in resume building, interview preparation, assisting students of any major in identifying enriching internship experiences, job search strategy, and in developing the professionalism that employers and graduate programs expect. Career Services manages Eagle Career Launch, the campus web-based job board, hosts four career fairs annually and offers access to a national job search engine, making the job search more efficient through connecting students and alumni with a wide array of employers.
