SAFE Class

SAFE classes are a two hour long introduction to basic self defense concepts for women. During the class, through video, lecture, discussion, and limited physical practice, women will be exploring concepts related to increasing their personal safety.  They will do this by becoming more aware of their surroundings, learning to make better decisions related to their safety, reporting unsafe conditions, and beginning to learn very fundamental self-defense techniques. SAFE classes are taught by certified instructors from USI Public Safety.

These classes are designed to be self-contained, but also are a great introduction to the RAD self-defense classes that are offered each semester here at USI. Those classes are longer and offer a more in-depth approach to actual self-defense techniques. Concepts, terms, and techniques that are only introduced in the SAFE class will prepare you to step right into a RAD self-defense class if you are interested.  And remember, there is no cost for either the SAFE or the RAD self-defense classes for women here at USI.
