Self Defense (RAD) classes are scheduled! Plan to attend all four sessions: Mondays 1/23, 1/30, 2/6, and 2/13 from 3:00-5:00pm in the RFWC. Call 461-5483 or email catolis@usi.edu to sign up. Self Defense 101 ClassSelf Defense 101 classes are a two hour introduction to basic self defense concepts for women. During the class, through video, lecture, discussion, and limited physical practice, women will be exploring concepts related to increasing their personal safety. They will do this by becoming more aware of their surroundings, learning to make better decisions related to their safety, reporting unsafe conditions, and beginning to learn very fundamental self-defense techniques. Classes are taught by instructors from the RFW and are for women only. These classes are designed to be self-contained, but also are a great introduction to the Self Defense for Women (RAD) classes that are offered each semester here at USI. Self Defense 101 classes are free! Self Defense for Women (RAD) Self Defense for Women classes are based on the Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) program. These classes are longer and offer a more in-depth approach to actual self-defense techniques. Concepts, terms, and techniques that are introduced in the 101 class will prepare you to step right into the RAD class if you are interested, but you can take the RAD class without 101. Classes are typically scheduled once per semester for four 2-hour sessions. RAD classes are also free! |
