Graduate Credit Option

SOCW 642, Foundations of School Social Work, 3 credit hours
This advanced practice specialization course exposes the students to the field of school social work. The focus will be on the role of the social worker in the school. This includes provision of evidence-based direct service, consultation, advocacy, program development and evaluation, evaluation of one's own practice and service delivery, and liaison with families and community systems.

Course prerequisite: Completion of 500-level MSW core classes or advanced standing status.

Enrollment
To enroll for three hours graduate credit you must be admitted to Graduate Studies at USI either as a degree-seeking student in a USI graduate program or as a guest/special nondegree-seeking student. If you are applying as a degree-seeking student you may use the printable form available from Graduate Studies. If you are applying as a guest/special student, click here for an application.

There is a one-time $25 fee for those making their first application for a USI graduate course. Check the appropriate blank on the registration form to receive materials and complete instructions.

After your application is accepted you will be sent instructions on enrollment and tuition payment. Everything may be completed by mail, phone, fax, or e-mail, provided the Graduate Studies application process is completed by June 1, 2009.

Tuition:

$242.80 per credit hour; $728.40 + fees for the three-hour course, regardless of residency.

$25 application fee for first-time USI Graduate students.

Tuition is in addition to the registration fee. Currently enrolled USI students should follow regular on-campus registration procedures. Those enrolling as guest/special students must complete registration by June 6.
