Interesting info

Attractive plant with four-petaled white flower and deep green leaves.

Flower is similar to spring cress and cut-leaved toothwort, but these plants bloom much earlier.

Identification is uncertain. Older botanical texts seem to refer to this plant as Houstonia lanceolata.

Frequency: Many plants found in low, wet woods, sometimes in shallow water.

Range: Difficult to say because identification is uncertain, but appears to be a southern species.
