Welcome to my web site.
About the Professor
I was born in a very small town in northwest Kansas. We all worked on the ranch and at my fathers business. It was here that I learned the values of hard work and persistence.
After high school graduation, I first attended a community college. The major difference was that most of the students lived on campus. I really enjoyed college and hoped to become a teacher. Even at that time, I contemplated becoming a college professor.
Next, I completed dual B.S. degrees at Kansas State University (Go Wildcats) in education and administration. Somewhere along the line I took an anatomy and physiology course and became hooked. I wanted to learn more about physiology and was eager to experience life outside the Kansas borders. So.... I accepted a teaching assistantship at the University of Texas at Austin. Here I completed a masters degree and was soon hired as an instructor at my undergraduate alma mater. It was apparent to me that most college professors possessed doctorate degrees, so I began work on a Ph.D.
It was also at this time that I married my husband, David. Both my spouse and I completed our Ph.D. work in May of 1989. Our first daughter was born in June of 1989. We moved to Syracuse, New York a few days after her birth. David worked for a major pharmaceutical company and I taught at Onondaga Community College. We lived near Syracuse for seven years, and during this time we welcomed two sons and another daughter to our family. (Yes, I do have four children).
A change in my husbands employment brought us here to Evansville. I began teaching here at USI in the Fall of 2006.
I truly enjoy teaching, and seek to improve my skills on a daily basis. If you ever have any comments or suggestions, please do not hesitate to call or e-mail me. I look forward to the semester ahead and I hope that you looking forward to it also.
See you in class!
