Scholarships and Aid

Scholarships, grants, awards, loans, and work-study programs, available through the USI Student Financial Aid Office, make an education affordable. USI Presidential Scholarships offer full four-year scholarships to qualified Indiana high school valedictorians and salutatorians.

Albert A. Woll Memorial Scholarship

  • Faculty to select
Criteria: Junior or Senior Pre-Med when scholarship is applied to tuition; 2 years max; Automatically renewable if still meet criteria; financial need. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the current academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Aid must validate need.
Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine Scholarships

Criteria: Baccalaureate/Doctor of Medicine (B/MD) Scholarships are awarded annually to six exceptional students who are residents of Indiana, entering in the fall as USI freshmen, scoring at least a combined score of 1800 (including writing) or 1200 (excluding writing) from one test date on the SAT or 27 composite score on the ACT, and earning a high school GPA of at least 3.5 (4.0). The scholarship offers full tuition waiver and a provisional seat in the Indiana University School of Medicine. May not be awarded to a graduating senior.
Edward F. Harrison Scholarship

Criteria: A student who is health professions career-oriented with demonstrated need and who shows real commitment. Preference to Nursing. Automatically renewable with 3.2 GPA. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the current academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Aid must validate need.
George W. Goodman Pre-Optometry Scholarship

Criteria: To be awarded to the most outstanding junior Pre-Optometry student who best exemplifies the dedication, compassion and ability to succeed in the field of optometry. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the coming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable, but may be reawarded if recipient is still qualified.
J. Maxwell Davis Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: Biology Education student who is a sophomore or junior at the time of selection to be used during junior or senior year; financial need; Automatically renewable with 2.5 GPA. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the current academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Aid must validate need.
Jackson L. & Barbara A. Marr Biology Scholarship

Criteria: Award to a full-time biology major who has completed 15 hours with a 3.0 or better GPA in the normal biology curriculum, and is enrolled in the normal second level of comparable courses. Preference given to a student who has little to no academic financial support upon enrolling at USI. Not renewable. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the coming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Student Financial Aid must validate need.
Judy Benedict Hightower Memorial Scholarship

Criteria: To a bright and deserving student interested in Organic Chemistry whose career goal is to work in research on drugs. Award to be used in junior or senior year. May not be awarded to a graduating senior. Recipient must be enrolled during the coming academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable, but students may be reawarded.
Melvin W. Denner Medical Sciences Award

  • Faculty to select
Criteria: USI senior accepted by a doctoral granting graduate school in the health professions, e.g. medical school, dental school, etc. *Cash award for graduate school use - payable in August. Recipient must be enrolled during the current academic year in order to receive this scholarship. Not renewable
The Science Teaching Award

Selection Process:
  • Faculty to select
Criteria: To be awarded to a current year senior Science Teaching major, with a primary area of Biology or General Science, who best exemplifies the dedication, compassion, and communication skills necessary to become an outstanding role model and teacher. Selection to be made by the Biology faculty and include the Science Teaching Advisor. Not renewable. May not be awarded to a graduating senior.
