Position Description and Responsibilities:

 

This is an entry level technical position with the expectation of moving into a management oversight role within 2 to 4 years. The successful candidate will be expected to gain an understanding and expertise with a variety of analytical instrumentation used in the analysis of pharmaceutical samples, primarily tablets, and to assist in the troubleshooting and resolution of Quality Control testing issues. Primary techniques include HPLC, GC and wet chemical analysis, primarily compendial testing, on a very large variety of raw materials and dosage forms. The candidate will be required to interface with laboratory analysts and schedule coordinators as well as other departments such as Planning and Manufacturing. There is also a requirement to become familiar with, and expert in the use of a large number of computer software programs used within the organization such as a LIMS system, Nugenesis applications for data storage, a laboratory chromatography package for data acquisition and reduction, and a proprietary package for the analysis of stability samples. This requirement also extends into all requirements relevant to electronic records and signatures.

Position Requirements:

 

Technical qualifications are a Masters degree in chemistry with a preference for an instrumental analytical emphasis, or 2 to 3 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Other requirements include strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to teach. Also required is the ability to work in a highly matrixed environment with a large number of competing priorities and tight deadlines. This position is primarily first shift but does include an overtime requirement as well as occasional night and weekend support. Assignment to another shift is a future possibility. This position could be located in either the Evansville or Mt. Vernon plants and may require movement between the two sites.
