Advising Information

The Chemistry program aspires to successfully prepare prospective majors for careers in chemical research, teaching, medical professions, chemical industry and government agencies.

The Chemistry Major is structured with the intention that students enroll in a common core of required chemistry and related science courses. Electives are selected in consultation with the academic advisor to tailor programs to individual interests. This approach provides the flexibility of preparation for different careers as students advance through the chemistry program.

Students are advised throughout their tenure at the University by full-time Chemistry faculty who are available during the academic year to discuss goals, career alternatives, and progress. Close collaboration between the student and the advisor contributes markedly to success.
