Guidelines

Who is eligible?
Entering freshman may be considered if their high school GPA is 3.5 or better and earn a minimum SAT score of 1200 or ACT score of 27 on one test. Full-time students with a minimum high school grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale pursuing a major in Engineering at USI. Transfer students must have a minimum college transfer grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. What is the Pott Engineering Scholarship worth? For selected scholars, the University provides awards that pay $1,500 per academic year (fall and spring).

Is the scholarship renewable?
The award may be renewed automatically if the student enrolls full-time, continues to major in engineering, and earns a minimum 3.0 USI cumulative grade point average after two semesters of enrollment. Subsequent GPA evaluations will take place at the end of each academic year (at the conclusion of spring semester). A full-time student is defined as one who enrolls in at least 12 official semester hours each fall and spring.

Can this scholarship be cancelled?
This scholarship will be cancelled if renewal criteria are not met, and the scholarship ordinarily will not be reinstated.

How do I apply?
Interested persons must first apply for admission to USI as an Engineering major by March 1, prior to academic year of initial enrollment as a degree-seeking student. Scholarship applications are available from the Student Financial Aid Office. Applicants who are selected to receive the Pott Engineering Scholarship must enroll in the next regular semester (fall or spring) following the notification of award.
