The Ground Water Monitoring Laboratory at the University of Southern Indiana was designed initially to serve as a “state-of-the-art” teaching laboratory for Geology and Environmental Sciences.  While it has certainly met that goal, the lab has also provided us with exciting research and outreach opportunities.

What started with a Goebel Brothers drill rig on site before construction of the new USI Science/Education Center began, has continued as a site for faculty - student research and real-time monitoring of an important local resource.

Please look around our web site.  See a photographic history of constructing a college building around a ground-water monitoring lab, see some of the geology we do and scientific questions we try to answer, meet some of the students that have worked in the lab, and learn about ground water in southwestern Indiana!
