My experience at USI has been outstanding. I was welcomed into the University and Geology Department by fellow students (the USI Geology Club ROCKS!) and enthusiastic professors eager to show off a brand new science building with all new geology classrooms. Small class sizes and highly motivated professors provided a learning environment that allowed me to excel in my education and experience professionalism in the field of geology first hand.

Geology courses at USI provide fieldtrips (hands-on experience) as a necessary compliment to in-class sessions. Fieldwork is conducted during lab sessions, local weekend trips (e.g., Hoosier National Forest, St. Francois Mountains, Mammoth Cave…) and extended two week long summer field courses to places like Maine, the Everglades, the Black Hills, Hudson bay in Canada, and Hawaii. Multiple undergraduate research projects, guided by faculty, have given me invaluable experience towards class work and roots toward my future studies in graduate school and as a practicing professional geologist.
