I am very impressed with the science facilities on campus, especially all of the new equipment in the new Science building. Not every girl wakes up each day with the ability to access pressure transducers, fully furnished (with food storage and cooking) seminar rooms and fossils of animals that can now only be seen in rocks.
There are many classes at USI that have allowed me to explore outside my central discipline. I think it is very important to take a wide variety of classes to get a full education. Classes like logic, music appreciation and physiology I have found to be just as rewarding in their own ways as the classes that will lead me more directly to my career in Geology.
The environment here at USI is also very intellectually stimulating. My fellow students are like colleagues. Working together on projects, field excursions and in class discussions make coming to school more rewarding.
In the geology department everyone treats one another like family. Even the professors are close to the students, always ready to answer crazy questions or explore the local geology of an area that the students think maybe interesting. I don’t think I could have dreamt a better job to come to everyday.
