Intercollegiate Athletics

The Edge/WSWI radio station broadcasts many USI sporting events, mostly USI mens' and womens' basketball games in the winter and baseball in the spring. We are always looking for people that are interested in being a part of these broadcasts and are willing to do the work to make them of a high quality. Students (especially in the Sports Management area) that are interested in being a part of our sports department, should contact our Sports Director Michael Robertson at sports@theedgeradio.org.  This is a great opportunity for the right people.

 

USI Sports Information
Student must have an interest in athletics and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Knowledge of Adobe programs is preferred.

Duties will include some evening and weekend work.

Job Description: The University of Southern Indiana Sports Information Internship will give an individual practical experience in a collegiate sports information office. The student will be responsible for holding office hours with the following duties assigned by the Director of Sports Information and/or Assistant Director of Sports Information.

  • Hometown releases to go out each Tuesday (Player of the Week awards, outstanding games, milestones);
  • Write recaps and collect results of selected Olympic sports;
  • Help the SID and/or ASID with preparation on game day (examples: writing game protocols or public address scripts);
  • Special research projects.

The University of Southern Indiana Department of Athletics expects all interns to have a willingness to learn and a passion for athletics. Excellent oral and written communications skills are necessary as well as the ability to multi-task and work under pressure. The individuals in these internships also must be team-oriented and willing to work irregular hours if necessary. At the end of the internship, our goal is that the individual will be prepared for a position in athletics administration.

Job Description:

  • Assist with management of box office ticket sales
  • Assist with game day ticket sales for men's and women's basketball
  • Process ticket orders
  • Assist with season ticket renewals
  • Assist with student ticket distribution
  • Assist with development of ticket seating chart
  • Develop ticket strategies to maximize attendance at men's and women's basketball games
  • Work with other interns on game management items involving tickets
  • Other duties as assigned by Ticket Manager and Associate Athletic Director

  • Assist Head Men's and Women's Cross Country coach with all administrative duties that will include, but not be limited, to the following:
    Travel Preparations and Reconciliations
    NCAA Compliance Paperwork
    Development of Training Plans
    Scheduling
    Medical Forms for Athletic Training
    Academic Support
    Financial Aid for Student-Athletes
  • Assist in the management of the GLVC Cross Country Championships
  • Requires evening and weekend hours as travel with teams may be mandated

  • Reports to supervisor of specific sport (i.e. Athletic Director, Associate Athletic Director)
  • Assist with planning of event
  • Works with officials assignors of sport to ensure officials are informed and paid in timely fashion
  • Assist in implementation of promotional activities at event
  • Coordinate setup and breakdown of events
  • Coordinate ticket procedures for sports other than basketball
  • Assist in supervision of volunteers and students working event
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Leading off campus marketing efforts including the creation and dissemination of flyers and other electronic and social media efforts
  • Work with RedZone and other student groups on campus to generate attendance and excitement at home events
  • Will work closely with sponsorship proposals and corporate sales fulfillment process

  • Work with athletic staff and interns in the fulfillment of corporate sponsorship agreements

University of Evansville Marketing and Event Management
The University of Evansville is offering two full-time paid internship positions within the areas of marketing and event management.

Description of Job Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to, assistance with the overall ticket operations with significant involvement in men's & women's basketball; including season, group and single game sales. Serve on a variety of ticket committees. Assist in all marketing & promotional efforts of designated sports including pre-season marketing, in-game marketing/promotions and overall implementation of a student marketing plan for all sports. Assist in game/event operations for designated sports with significant involvement in men's and women's basketball to include the following; script writing, scheduling of event workers, coordinating promotional events, venue set-up & breakdown and overall game presentation. Assist with special events and projects as assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Sr Associate Director of Athletics. This position is directly supervised by the Sr Associate AD for External Affairs and will work on a daily basis with the Director for External Affairs for Athletics and the Director of Ticket Operations.

Additional volunteer interns will be hired once the paid internships are finalized.
