Mathematica
Information - Fall 2009
USI uses
Mathematica in many classes. Lots of useful information is available
directly from
Wolfram
Research.
You might be interested in
Mathematica Player, a free viewer/player that lets you execute and print
(but not edit)
Mathematica notebooks without buying the full program.
The USI
Mathematica
tutorials have arrived!
Week 1 tutorial and
week 2 tutorial.
Where can I find Mathematica on
campus?
The software should be
available in the following rooms, and probably many others:
- The computer labs ED2102 and OR2004
- The calculus labs SC3220 and SC3221
- The Mathematics Student Study Room
- the Rice Library
- Some dorms
If
you find an outdated version (6 or older) or one that doesn't work
(after trying the license info listed below), please tell your
instructor, or email
Dr. Adrian Gentle.
Why doesn't it have a
license?
If
Mathematica asks
for license information when run, you should do the following:
- Select "Enter Network License"
- In the box, enter the following address:
cisweb.usi.edu
Mathematica Presentation
Useful Links
- Mathematica Player, a free program which views, runs and prints Mathematica notebooks, is available from Wolfram. This should let you view and run notebooks, although you can't edit them or save any changes.
- A free
trial version of Mathematica
is available from Wolfram Research, although it does not allow files to
be saved and only lasts 15 days.
