Academic Programs


Masters of Science in Education - Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Concentration

Kinesiology, Health, and Sport Concentration is designed to prepare students for the teaching profession or academic studies in areas of health education, physical education pedagogy, and coaching. The program involves the study of concepts related to conducting physical activity programs, with an emphasis on those related to school and sport contexts.

*Students must complete a minimum of two Physical Education courses and two education courses from the exploration phase prior to enrolling in the following courses.

- Analysis Phase (6 hours)

(Candidacy is required prior to registering for EDUC 601)

EDUC 631 Analysis of Instruction
(Prospectus Presentation Required)

*Students must complete a minimum of five Physical Education courses and four education courses (two from the Exploration phase, EDUC 601 and EDUC 631) prior to enrolling in the following course.

- Synthesis Phase (3 hours)

EDUC 671 Integrating Semester in Secondary Education (Teacher Action Research Required) 3 hours
*An advisor from the Department of Physical Education will collaborate with the student and the instructors of EDUC 601, 631, and 671 with regard to research projects.
