8:30 - 9:13 am Keynote speaker - Justin Bennett, Director of Engineering, Ciholas, Inc.

How engineers work in the real world:

Explanation of engineering design process:

Design ideas starting at the conceptual stage

Drawings (CAD = Computer Aided Drafting/Design).

Build a prototype.

 9:30 - 10:30 am Student presentations

How PLTW high school students are learning to become engineers:

Presentation on their design, draw, and build process (see above)

Prefer 3-4 person teams, PowerPoint format, each student present a topic.

Bring a built prototype, or present an image/movie of an Inventor assembly,

or programming flow chart     

10:30 - 11:00 am Lunch

11:00 - 11:40 am Counselor panel discussions

How high school students, counselors, and teachers learn about employer expectations:

Panel will consist of engineers from industry, plus PLTW/STEM representatives.

11:40 - 1:30 pm Employer Showcase

How high school students, counselors, and teachers learn about career opportunities:

The employers will have interactive displays, samples of product, videos of manufacturing processes, CAD drawings, etc. The Employer Showcase is important for high school students, counselors, and teachers to speak to engineers and see the opportunities in manufacturing and engineering fields.
