Steps for Success

SENIOR DIVISION 

  • Student selects project.
  • Student uses the Rules Wizard to determine which forms must be submitted with the project. 
  • Teacher/sponsor approves project and registers student for the fair (SEFI website.) For team projects (up to three members), sponsors should use the "Group Wizard" function to properly identify team members.
  • Teacher/sponsor provides student with registration log-in information. 
  • Student and sponsor ensure that all necessary ISEF paperwork is completed.  This will include, AT MINIMUM, Forms 1, 1A, and 1B.  Other forms may be necessary depending on the type of experimentation and the results of the Rules Wizard. 
  • Student may log-in and begin his/her on-line registration.  
  • Senior Division experimentation may begin. 
  • Student keeps a laboratory notebook to document experimentation.
  • Experimentation Concludes.
  • Student finalizes paperwork by obtaining necessary signatures on required forms. 
  • Student inputs research plan and abstract into the online registration site. 
  • All forms are uploaded to the online registration site. 
  • Teacher/sponsor logs onto registration site, ensures that all necessary information/forms have been submitted, and approves the project for "advancement" to the Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair. Student creates a presentation board. Display size is not to exceed 48" wide x 54" x 30" deep. No portions of the display may exceed these dimensions. Check fair rules for prohibited items. 

JUNIOR/ELEMENTARY DIVISIONS

  • Student selects project. 
  • Parent and sponsors approve the project to ensure that no research rules have been violated (see Rules for Scientific Research tab). 
  • Teacher/sponsor registers student for the fair (SEFI website.) For team projects (up to three members), sponsors should use the "Group Wizard" function to properly identify team members.
  • Teacher/sponsor provides student with registration log-in information.
  • Student may log-in and begin his/her on-line registration.
  • Junior/Elementary Division experimentation may begin. 
  • Student keeps a laboratory notebook to document the experiment.
  • Experimentation Concludes.
  • Student inputs abstract into the online registration site.
  • Teacher/sponsor logs onto registration site, ensures that all necessary information/forms have been submitted, and approves the project for "advancement" to the Tri-State Science and Engineering Fair.
