Dr. Gulley joined the faculty at USI in 1994 after teaching elementary school in Illinois, South Carolina, and Indiana. Her area of expertise is literacy education, specifically literature for children and young adults. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in children's literature, young adult literature, reading methods, social studies methods, and content area reading.
Dr. Gulley also serves on the Steering Committee for the
Teachers' Choices Project. Teachers' Choices is a project of the
International Reading Association. Teachers from across the country read and
review new trade books to identify those which have classroom applications.
