Licensure Minors - P-12 Education


This minor is for students who hold or are working toward a teaching license in the P-12 setting. Physical Education and Fine Arts majors who wish to become licensed to teach will complete this minor program. It is for those who have a non-education baccalaureate degree seeking licensure in the Initial Licensure Alternate Route Program. The P-12 Education Licensure Minor includes preparation for teaching in the elementary setting and secondary setting. Students interested in acquiring a license to teach in the P-12 setting should see the University's teacher licensing advisor in the Education Center for program information.

EDUC 221 Diversity and Equity in Education
- University Core Curriculum Category C2
- Co-req or Prereq for semester 1.

EDUC 292 Explorations in Elementary Education and Schooling
- OR -
6 hours
EDUC 283 Explorations in Secondary Education and Schooling
- AND -
EDUC 284 Introductory Clinical Experiences in Secondary Schools

Semester 2:

EDUC 382 Elementary Analysis of Curriculum and Instruction
- *Prereq: EDUC 283 and EDUC 284
- OR -

6 hours

EDUC 383 Secondary Analysis of Curriculum and Pedagogy

3 hours

EDUC 384 Advanced Clinical Experiences in Secondary Schools
- *Prereq: EDUC 292

Semester 3:
EDUC 439 Classroom Management through Data-based Decision Making 6 hours
Student Teaching 6 hours

*The prerequisites for the Block Two - Methods (Analysis Phase) are meant to assure that students have an experience in both the Elementary setting and the Secondary setting during the first two blocks of the P-12 Licensure Minor program.
