Candidates who hold a non-teaching bachelor's degree and wish to get a teaching license may be eligible for the Initial Licensure Alternate Route Program. Licensure is available in the following content areas and grade levels:

- Early Childhood Generalist (P-3)
- Elementary Generalist (K-6)
- Biology, Chemistry, Language Arts, Mathematics, History, Government, Psychology, Sociology, French, German, Spanish, and other secondary content areas (5-12 or 9-12)
- Physical Education and Visual Art (P-12)
