Funded through a grant, the Service Learning Program will offer 8 to 10 AmeriCorps positions to students during the 2011-2012 academic year.
Participants must complete 300 hours of community service between September 1, 2011 and August 31, 2012, and at least 14 of those hours must be spent in training or service activities with the other AmeriCorps members. It is possible that some of these hours can be performed in Community Work Study Placements or other service jobs. After successful completion, members will receive a $1,300 educational stipend that can be applied toward student loans or future educational expenses.
The AmeriCorps program was created by President Bill Clinton and now engages more than 75,000 Americans each year in service to meet critical needs in education, public safety, health, and environment.
We will be accepting applications for our program beginning July 1. Look over the information sheet and fill out an application form if interested. Email to firstname.lastname@example.org or bring to the Service Learning Office in Outreach and Engagement on the top floor of the new UC Extension.
