Whitney Hickman
Whitney is an English major with an emphasis in creative writing, about which she is sometimes less than emphatic. She has six different library cards in her wallet and that's pretty much all that's ever in it. She has a cat and two dogs, none of which are hers. Also, she is the daughter of a preacher, which implies all sorts of things but proves nothing...

Marielle Scheid
Marielle is a junior at the University of Southern Indiana who has mainly focused on English and theater. She was born in Recife, Brazil, and grew up in Avon, Indiana. Her career goal is to make money by making art.

Crystal Steltenpohl
Crystal is a sophomore English (Creative Writing) and
Psychology double major with a minor in German. She will, granted she
can get all her courses in on time, graduate in 2011 and go on to
graduate school to become either an English or a Psychology professor,
but at this point she's leaning towards English. She edits for the Shield and is involved in the Honors Program, National Society of
Collegiate Scholars, Psychology Club, and German Club. She is also
Resident Assistant and runs her own website, Mercury Ice
(http://mercuryice.com).

Amanda Brant
Amanda graduated from USI in 2002 with a degree in English. She is currently
pursuing an associate's degree in photography, and plans to attend graduate
school for a poetry MFA in the near future. She works in a window factory and has
a Pekingese pug named Maddie. Her favorite poet is Marie Howe. |

Jordan Cory
Jordan (A.K.A. JoCo) is a senior at the University of Southern Indiana, and
will graduate in December with a degree in English and an emphasis in creative
writing. He enjoys John Updike (fiction); Billy Collins (poetry); Leonard Cohen
(music); and Jack Nicholson (film).
After graduation, Jordan intends to take two years off before applying to
graduate programs. During that time he will move to Chicago, where he is
interviewing for a position at a cultural review magazine. |

Melissa
Cossey
Melissa Cossey is a senior at USI, majoring in
English/creative writing. She is a transfer student from SIU-Carbondale.
Melissa lives in Evansville with her husband, Blair, a watershed
coordinator and environmentalist, and her toddler son, Oliver
Story. She enjoys writing fiction, making bread, and quilling. |
Katie Guthrie
Katie
graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English with an emphasis in
creative writing. She also has a second major in French.
She enjoys reading and writing poetry and short stories, watching television,
and listening to music. Her favorite author is Anne Rice. Her favorite bands
include Death Cab For Cutie, The Killers, and The Raconteurs. |
Jennifer Moss
Jennifer is a junior at the University of Southern Indiana. Her major is
English with an emphasis in creative writing and a minor in Classical
Studies. She plans to attend graduate school to complete an MFA in Liberal
Arts.
Her favorite books so far are To Kill a Mocking Bird and The Great Gatsby,
yet her favorite author is still undetermined. Her favorite poets are Christina
Rossetti and Sylvia Plath. She considers The Princess Bride to be possibly the
best movie in the world. |

Andy Mullins
Andy graduated from Asbury College in 1997 with a degree in Theology. Two years
later he quit the ministry and has since been a camera store manager, a guitar
store salesperson, and an airport security groper with TSA. His current gig is
full-time Daddy to a two-year old bundle of sunshine named Grace. In his spare
time he studies Creative Writing at USI. He plans to apply to grad school in
the fall, secure in the knowledge that the only person more unemployable than
a theologian is a writer.
Andy enjoys watching anything other than Dora the Explorer, reading anything
other than Curious George and sweet, sweet silence. |

Adrienne Rivera
Adrienne Rivera is a senior and will graduate in
spring 2009 with a BA in English with an emphasis in creative writing and a minor in anthropology. She's currently working on filling out dozens of graduate school applications in hope that she will be accepted into an MFA program in fiction.

Shawna Rodenberg
Shawna
is an English major with a creative writing emphasis. Previously,
she has majored in psychology, French, and nursing. She is a
nurse and a homeschooling mother of five. She teaches yoga and
owns goats. Currently, her favorite writers are Louise Erdrich
and Anna, Comtesse de Noailles.

Jon Webb
Jon Webb is a senior at USI, and serves as the Arts/Entertainment
Editor for USI's student newspaper The Shield. Since
his internship at SIR, he has begun work on his first novel, which
he hopes to finish before he dies. |
