Related University Links USI At a Glance Food Service

The majority of events are held in the University Center located in the heart of the USI campus. The University Center plays a vital role in serving the activity, meeting, and dining needs of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community. In the management capacity of the University Center, the department’s goal is to consistently maintain the integrity and quality of the facility and furnishings to provide a convenient and pleasant environment for all activities.

Carter Hall was a generous gift of Jennings D. "Nick" Carter in loving memory of his wife Josephine K. Carter. Constructed in 1997, Carter Hall is located on the second floor of the University Center, and is primarily used for large meetings, conferences, weddings, and dances. The total capacity of Carter Hall (A-B-C-D) is 700. Using sound-proof portable walls, it can be divided into three separate break-out rooms, (A-B-C), holding 25-50 people per room. Each room is self contained, carpeted, and has access to a professional sound system.

Standard staging and podium are available at no additional charge. Carter Hall D is equipped with LCData Projector, laptop computer, DVD and VCR, remote mouse and drop down screen. Your meeting planner can arrange for additional audio visual equipment or meeting supplies upon request. Carter Hall C has a permanently installed LCData Projector, DVD and VCR and a pull-down screen.

You may consult with your meeting planner for other available equipment and services.

Food served in the University Center must be arranged exclusively through USI Dining. The room rental fee for Carter Hall will be reduced by one half if the catered food costs exceed four times the room rental charge. Sample menu options are available on the USI Dining web site at http://www.usifood.com/catering.html if food is required for your function. For specific information and to create menus for your event, call USI Dining Catering Manager at 812/465-1652.

The University Center offers four meeting rooms located on the second floor. Each room is carpeted and equipped with a square or rectangular conference table, credenza, dry-erase and bulletin boards. Each room has a permanently installed LCData Projector, DVD and VCR, and a pull-down screen. Your meeting planner can arrange for additional audio visual equipment or meeting supplies upon request.
