Thompson named Player of the Month
University of Southern Indiana senior forward Chris Thompson
(Starke, Indiana) was named the Player of the Month for November in the December issue of the Division II Bulletin
. He is the third USI men's basketball player to earn this honor (Randy Holbrook, January 2005 Wayne Houston, December 1997).
Thompson led the Screaming Eagles to a 6-0 record in the month of November. The Division II Bulletin
preseason All-American averaged 22.5 points and 10.7 rebounds per game, while shooting 75.7 from the field (56-74) and 66.7 percent from three-point field goal range (4-6).
He was named the Disney Division II Tip-Off Classic Most Outstanding Player after leading the Eagles to tournament championship by posting three straight double-doubles and averaging 22.7 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. Thompson also set a tournament record by shooting 75 percent from the field (27-36).
In the two exhibition games, Thompson posted 19.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game against the University of Tennessee and the University of Louisville.
The Eagles and Thompson begin GLVC West Division play this evening on the road at the University of Missouri-Rolla at 7:30 p.m. Tonight's game will be first time that USI and UMR play within the GLVC.
