USI baseball drops two at IU Southeast

The University of Southern Indiana baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Indiana University Southeast, 5-4 and 5-3, Tuesday afternoon in New Albany, Indiana. USI falls below .500 to 23-24 overall, while IUS goes to 25-22 this spring.
Despite dropping both games, USI received respectable pitching performances in both games.
Freshman right-hander Drew Neel (Newburgh, Indiana) went 3 2/3 innings in relief of starting pitcher Steve Arnold (Evansville, Indiana), allowing only fours hits while striking out two in game one. Arnold (3-2) started and took the loss, allowing five hits, five runs (three earned) and walked one in 2 1/3 innings.
In game two, sophomore right-hander Dustin Macke (Evansville, Indiana) (0-5) took the loss, allowing five hits, four runs (two earned) and two walks while striking out five in five-plus innings.
USI will try to get back on track Thursday, April 26, it hosts Oakland City University for a 2 p.m. single game to start the final four-game homestand of the season. The Eagles will resume Great Lakes Valley Conference action on Saturday and Sunday, April 28-29, when Bellarmine University comes to Evansville for a three-game series. Both days against Bellarmine will start at noon.
